FormGenius

Accessible Forms Built for Community Interest Companies

Reach more people. Comply with the Equality Act. Collect better data. WCAG 2.2 AA compliant forms — by default, not by accident.

Community Interest Companies exist to serve communities. But if the people you serve cannot complete your application forms or feedback surveys, you are excluding the very people you are trying to help. FormGenius creates accessible, fillable PDF forms and WCAG 2.2 AA web forms automatically — no specialist knowledge, no remediation, just design your form and it is compliant by default.

Why CICs choose FormGenius

You are already under legal obligation

Community Interest Companies are service providers under the Equality Act 2010. You are legally required to make reasonable adjustments to ensure disabled people can access your services — including your digital forms. FormGenius removes that risk. Every form is WCAG 2.2 AA compliant by default. That is reasonable adjustment, built in.

Your CIC serves your community

Whether you are a community hub, employment support scheme, or social housing provider, you almost certainly serve people with disabilities. Making your forms accessible shows that inclusion is not just policy — it is practice. When you tell your members, beneficiaries, and board your forms meet WCAG 2.2 AA standards, you are demonstrating genuine commitment.

Affordable for social sector budgets

Specialist accessibility software is expensive. Hiring consultants to remediate inaccessible PDFs can cost thousands. Most CICs do not have that budget. FormGenius starts free — no account, no payment, no personal data — and paid tiers are designed for social sector organisations, not enterprise IT departments.

Better data, better impact reporting

High form abandonment rates are often caused by inaccessibility. When people hit barriers, they give up. Accessible forms have higher completion rates — meaning better data, better insight into your impact, and stronger evidence for funders and commissioners.

What CICs use FormGenius for

Service application forms

Applications for employment support, community programmes, or social housing referrals — accessible to all applicants.

Volunteer and membership forms

Recruit volunteers and members with forms that work for everyone, including people using screen readers or keyboard-only navigation.

Feedback and satisfaction surveys

Hear from all the people you serve, not just those who can navigate inaccessible forms.

Consent and safeguarding forms

Accessible consent forms reduce legal and safeguarding risk — and ensure no one is excluded from giving informed consent.

Referral and intake forms

Partner organisations referring clients to your services need forms that work for professionals and service users alike.

Event registration forms

Community events, workshops, and training sessions — accessible registration that reflects your inclusive values.

How it works

From design to published form in minutes — no technical knowledge required.

1

Design your form

Use our visual editor. Drag and drop fields, add your CIC branding, and organise sections — exactly like any form tool you have used before.

2

Check with the Accessibility Wizard

Before publishing, our 6-tab wizard checks heading hierarchy, alt text, tab order, colour contrast, and field labels. It tells you exactly what to fix — in plain language.

3

Publish as PDF or web form

Export as an accessible PDF/UA (ISO 14289-1) tagged document, or publish as a live WCAG 2.2 AA web form. Same design, two outputs.

4

Collect responses securely

Submissions are encrypted at rest and only visible to you. Export to CSV, or import filled PDFs as submissions.

Your Equality Act obligations as a CIC

Community Interest Companies are service providers under the Equality Act 2010 — regardless of size or turnover. That means you have legal obligations around accessibility that apply to your digital services, including your forms.

Equality Act 2010

Requires all service providers to make reasonable adjustments so disabled people can access services. For CICs collecting data digitally, inaccessible forms can constitute a failure to make reasonable adjustments. Using an accessible tool like FormGenius demonstrates you are taking your obligations seriously.

What "reasonable adjustment" means in practice

Using accessible tools when they are available and reasonably affordable is exactly what reasonable adjustment looks like. FormGenius is available, affordable, and produces forms that meet recognised accessibility standards — making it straightforward evidence of compliance.

Charity Commission expectations

The Charity Commission increasingly emphasises accessibility and inclusion as part of good governance. CICs with charitable purposes, or those working alongside charities, should be aware that accessible digital services are part of demonstrating good governance.

European Accessibility Act 2025

Came into force across the EU in June 2025. The UK is expected to adopt equivalent provisions extending accessibility requirements to digital services. Organisations using FormGenius now will already meet the higher standard when UK legislation follows.

Frequently asked questions

Does FormGenius handle GDPR compliance for form responses?

FormGenius generates PDFs entirely in your browser — your form data never touches our servers on the free tier. For web form submissions, responses are encrypted at rest and only accessible to the form owner. You remain responsible for GDPR compliance in how you process and retain responses.

Can we use our CIC branding on forms?

Yes. The free and Starter tiers include basic branding options. The Growth tier adds custom confirmation messages. The Business tier includes full custom branding — your logo, colours, and custom URL slug.

We have existing inaccessible PDFs. What should we do?

Remake them in FormGenius. It is usually faster and more cost-effective than trying to remediate existing files with specialist software. Most forms can be recreated in under an hour.

Do we need technical knowledge to use FormGenius?

No. It is a visual form builder — if you can use Word or Google Docs, you can use FormGenius. Accessibility is built in automatically; you do not need to understand WCAG standards to produce compliant forms.

Can our beneficiaries fill in a form offline?

Yes. They can download the accessible PDF, complete it offline, and submit it or email it back. On the Growth and Business tiers, you can import filled PDFs directly as submissions.
