FormGenius

Accessible Forms for Public Sector Bodies. Compliance, Simplified.

Meet your accessibility obligations. Reach all residents. WCAG 2.2 AA compliant forms — automatically, without specialist teams or expensive software.

Local councils and public sector bodies have explicit accessibility obligations under the Public Sector Bodies Accessibility Regulations 2018. WCAG 2.1 AA compliance is mandatory — not optional. FormGenius creates compliant forms by default. No specialist knowledge, no remediation, no compliance headaches.

Why public sector bodies choose FormGenius

Automatic compliance

Every form is WCAG 2.2 AA compliant by default. Heading hierarchy is checked, alt text is validated, colour contrast is verified, tab order is correct. The compliance is built in — you just design your form.

Audit-ready from day one

Your CDDO or accessibility audit is less painful when you can demonstrate you are using tools designed for compliance. The Accessibility Wizard generates a compliance report showing how your forms meet WCAG 2.2 AA, PDF/UA, and colour contrast requirements.

Faster service delivery

Planning applications, service requests, consultation forms — the forms that process your core public services should be accessible to all residents. FormGenius makes compliant forms fast. No weeks of remediation. No specialist consultants. Design, publish, compliant.

Scalable across departments

Different departments need different forms, and not every team has digital expertise. FormGenius is designed for non-technical staff. Train your teams once and they can create compliant forms independently — without your digital team as a bottleneck.

Common use cases in the public sector

Planning applications

Complex, multi-page forms accessed by hundreds of applicants. WCAG compliance is mandatory — FormGenius makes accessible planning forms straightforward.

Service requests

Housing repairs, waste collection, permit applications — high-volume forms that must be accessible to every resident.

Public consultation forms

Local authority consultations are part of the democratic process. They should be accessible to all residents, not just some.

Feedback and complaints

Residents with disabilities deserve to be heard. Accessible feedback forms ensure you hear from everyone, including those who would otherwise be excluded.

Housing applications

Local authority and housing association applications should be accessible — the people most likely to need accessible housing are often those most affected by inaccessible forms.

Licence and permit applications

Business licences, environmental permits, taxi licences — inaccessible application forms create unnecessary barriers for residents and businesses alike.

Migrating your forms to FormGenius

From design to published form in minutes — no technical knowledge required.

1

Audit and prioritise

Identify your highest-priority forms — those processed by large numbers of residents, critical to core services, or that generate frequent complaints about accessibility.

2

Migrate priority forms

Remake your priority forms in FormGenius. Each form typically takes a few hours rather than weeks of specialist remediation work.

3

Train your teams

FormGenius is designed for non-technical staff. Train your departments to create compliant forms independently — compliance becomes the default, not the exception.

4

Ongoing compliance by default

Every new form created in FormGenius is compliant by default. Accessibility is no longer a project — it is just how your organisation creates forms.

Your regulatory obligations

Public sector bodies face a specific and enforceable legal framework around digital accessibility. Understanding what applies to you — and acting on it — is not optional.

Public Sector Bodies Accessibility Regulations 2018

Requires public sector websites, mobile applications, and digital services to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA as a minimum. This includes online forms and PDF documents published on public sector websites. Enforced by the Central Digital and Data Office (CDDO). Non-compliant organisations can face formal enforcement action.

Equality Act 2010

Applies independently of the 2018 regulations. Public authorities have a Public Sector Equality Duty requiring them to advance equality of opportunity and foster good relations between people with and without disabilities. Inaccessible digital services can constitute a breach.

PDF/UA (ISO 14289-1)

The recognised international standard for accessible PDF documents. FormGenius PDF exports include the full tagged structure tree, marked content sequences, heading hierarchy, field labels, and reading order that screen readers require. Simply exporting from FormGenius produces a PDF/UA compliant document.

European Accessibility Act 2025

Came into force across the EU in June 2025. The UK is expected to adopt equivalent or stricter provisions. Councils and public bodies already meeting WCAG 2.2 AA through FormGenius will be ahead of requirements when UK legislation follows.
